My name is Matt Cosner and I am the driver of the #66c Dirt Late Model. I am a high school senior at Calvary Christian Academy in Cresaptown, MD.
I began racing a Quarter Midget when I was 7 years old in Hagerstown, MD. I raced Quarter Midgets for a total of 7 years and was very successful. In those 7 years, I had 39 feature wins. I held the title of Track Champion in several divisions at the Hagerstown Quarter Midget Track. I won races and achieved fast time awards at the State level in New Castle, Delaware. I also competed at the National level in Terra Haute, Indiana and Hagerstown, MD with top five finishes each year.
The 2005 season I began racing a dirt modified car. In this division, I competed for the first time against all adults on a full size race track. I raced at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, PA and the Hill Valley Speedway in Orbizonia, PA. The week after my 15th birthday I accomplished my first win at the Hill Valley Speedway and two weeks later picked up my second win at the Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex. I earned the respect of my fellow drivers and a lot of fans. I finished the season 5th out of 41 drivers in the final point standings at the Roaring Knob Speedway. Also, I finished 66th out of 227 in the AMRA National Points.
In 2006, I continued racing a dirt modified car. Throughout struggles with an older car, I managed to win three heat races. Towards the end of the 2006 season, I was able to obtain a new Throw-N-Dirt Chassis dirt modified. I finished the remainder of the season with three second place finishes. I ended the season finishing 2nd in the point standings at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex.
The 2007 season was a struggle in the dirt modified, but at the same time a building season. Towards the end of the season, I was given the opportunity to drive the Bullitt Chassis house car. Racing this car, a dirt late model, gave me the chance to step into a new class. After six races and discovering that moving into a higher class is difficult, I decided it was what I wanted to do the following season. I finished the year by placing 3rd in the point standings at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in the dirt modified.
